To start with, you have to take a beautiful napkin of a bright color. The napkin should be of standard size neither too big nor too small. You can use either palm of your hand or knife to fold. As a first step, take the edges of the napkin to the centre. Using the palm of your hands, fold the folded section once again and bring them to the centre after doing it twice in one side of the napkin, put your hands on the center to turn it over and fold it again to the center. Here, what you need to remember is that folds of the napkin are to be done twice from one side.
After this, there are other folds from four sides which are to be done. All your napkin folds should be directed towards the center. Now, turn it over once again and open the folds from this side to get a beautiful shape and right at the center you can either put a bowl filled of nuts or flower petals etc or a small decorative platter over these folds which are being opened.
Alternately, you can get the four sections folds of the napkin to the edges and put a beautiful bowl filled up with decorative items there. Now, again turn the napkin and open the sections here to get other beautiful combination. You can keep a bowl filled with food stuff or flower petals here. Stretch out the lower most sections of the napkin and it would appear exactly like petals of lotus flower. If you have bowl full of nuts or a plate for that matter or just about anything you can keep it at the center of this beautiful napkin lotus.
There is classical way of folding lotus napkin also but the above mentioned way is much more fascinating as it is done by an expert in napkin folding. The ideal lotus fold that you come up with finally looks amazing and captivating. This can be used for keeping fruits, decorative flowers, petals, leaves etc. On the ideal folds of this napkin, you can even put a candle on the eve of Christmas or birthday party when you have a solid base for it.
